Kårstø and Kollsnes

Statoil has on behalf of Gassco awarded an EPC contract to Aibel AS for modifications and upgrades at Kårstø and Kollsnes. The contract is worth more than NOK 375 million.

The main part of the contract relates to modifications to the Sleipner facility at the Kårstø gas processing plant, which will enable the plant to receive and process light oil from the Gudrun field in the North Sea. The total cost of this project, Gudrun onshore modifications (GOM), is put at some NOK 800 million, including Aibel’s share of the work.

The other part of the contract relates to the improvement and upgrading of three booster compressors at Kårstø, as well as the upgrading of five export compressors at Kollsnes. This compressor upgrade project (CUP) is expected to cost more than NOK 400 million, including Aibel’s contribution.

Aibel will commence the detailed engineering work on GOM this July and the modification work on Kårstø will be completed by 31 July 2013. The first volumes of light oil from Gudrun are expected at Kårstø in the first quarter of 2014. To begin with the new GOM installations will be fed from Sleipner.

The Kårstø booster compressor upgrade will be completed by 1 June 2013, while the upgrade of the Kollsnes export compressors will be completed by 1 September 2013.

Kårstø and Kollsnes gas processing plants are owned by the joint company partnership Gassled, where Gassco is operator. Statoil is responsible operations and maintenance, and also carries out projects on behalf of Gassco.
