Norwest Energy NL advises that Fugro Airborne Surveys Pty Ltd have commenced acquiring airborne Falcon Gravity Gradient data and magnetic data over the Northern Perth Basin Special Prospecting Authority- STP-SPA -0013 (SPA).

To date Fugro have acquired data covering 443km (21%) with a further 1,697km remaining to be acquired. Norwest anticipate the survey will be completed later this week depending on weather, and access to restricted airspace.

The object of the survey is to identify more accurately potential basement related fault blocks and adjacent deep troughs that will assist Norwest to establish the SPA’s prospectively and planning for future exploration Norwest secured the SPA to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential over 21 onshore blocks in the Northern Perth Basin in April 2011 and holds a 100% interest.

The SPA covers an elongated onshore area of 860km² (212,522 acres) running along the Western Australian coast, located between Cervantes and Eneabba. Norwest considers that the area may have good potential for shale gas. The SPA is valid for six months. If the survey results prove favourable, Norwest has a further six months to submit an application for a petroleum exploration permit over the SPA area.

Norwest is experienced in the acquisition and application of the low impact airborne gravity gradient technology having successfully conducted FTG (Full Tensor Gradiometry) Surveys over both the offshore Western Australian exploration permit, TP15 and its Southern England, Wessex Basin acreage.
