Market-leading technologies which are helping the subsea industry overcome the demanding challenges it faces will go on show for the first time in London later this month.

The Aberdeen operation of global engineering and construction services group Aker Solutions is hosting its first ever technology day in London for international clients, contractors and suppliers.

The event, which will include a presentation on key subsea market trends by energy forecaster Andrew Reid from Douglas Westwood, builds on the highly successful annual technology days the company has staged at its headquarters in Dyce, Aberdeen, since 2007.

Around 80 industry professionals are expected to attend the event on September 29 at the Cavalry and Guards Club, Piccadilly, which will feature a series of technical presentations to showcase Aker Solutions' new and existing products and technologies.

Alan Brunnen, Aberdeen-based managing director with Aker Solutions, said: 'The industry in which we operate is constantly evolving and the requirement for new design and technology innovations is constant.

'While much of the subsea industry operates out of Aberdeen, London is also a key hub for our business. One of the prime objectives of the day is to engage with our marketplace on how technology needs to keep developing to support the burgeoning growth of our sector.'

The programme will focus on subsea production systems including subsea trees, control systems, structures and tie-in systems as well as umbilicals and power cables, vessels, intervention and construction in the sector. Finally, participants will look at lifecycle services, platform maintenance, operations and modification, plus enhanced recovery and field life extensions.
