The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) conducted an audit of BP Norway AS (BP)’s operation and inspection of pipelines and subsea facilities on 17 March 2009. PSA did not identify any non-conformities in relation to regulatory requirements.

The audit was carried out as a meeting and covered management systems, technical state control, risk-based inspection and transfer of experience.

Background for the audit Key priorities for our follow-up of the HSE area are to:

Make sure players follow-up circumstances related to the technical state of the facilities. Make sure the players prevent incidents with great potential for major accidents and accidents with the loss of life or serious personal injury, including hydrocarbon leaks.

Purpose of the audit The purpose of the audit was to make sure the requirements in the health, environment and safety regulations are followed in terms of operations, maintenance and inspection of pipelines and subsea facilities.

Furthermore, the purpose was to contribute to the transfer of experience, in part in connection with the execution of a project aimed at technology development and the need for early first time internal inspection.

Result of the audit PSA identified a potential for improvement in three areas:

Management of risk-based inspection. Governing documents. Technical state control of Hod 4” gas lift line.
