Engineering services provider Bilfinger has agreed a new 5-year contract with BP to provide maintenance services at two of its largest midstream oil and gas terminals in Scotland, securing 210 jobs.

The multi-service deal replaces a previous agreement from 2015, which covers BP’s Forties Pipeline System Terminals in Grangemouth and the Sullom Voe Terminal in Shetland.

The contract will see the business continue to provide a range of support services at the sites, including scaffolding, rope access, insulation, blasting & painting, asbestos management and fire proofing.

The new agreement comes as Bilfinger announces its 2020 strategy, which will see Bilfinger Industrial Services and electrical engineering division Bilfinger Industrial Automation Services (BIAS) brought together as one business unit from 2018. Along with offshore maintenance arm, Bilfinger Salamis, the UK businesses now form part of the Northwest Europe Region, which focuses on delivering Maintenance, Modification and Operations (MMO) services to the oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical industries.

Duncan Hall, executive president of Northwest Europe Region, Bilfinger, says, “The midstream contract is key to our operations in the UK and the five-year extension is testament to the work we’ve delivered across these assets for BP since the partnership began in 2010.”

The Forties Pipeline System – an integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system – serves over 50 offshore fields. Sullom Voe handles production for more than two dozen oilfields in the East Shetland Basin between Shetland and Norway.
