Birch Lake Energy Inc. has received a judgment relating to the claim filed by Bernum Petroleum Ltd. (Bernum), as previously announced on March 26, 2013 and May 6, 2013.

Bernum was granted summary judgment against Birch Lake in the amount of $1.1 million, less the current amount of approximately $100,000 set-off to date by production revenue retained by Bernum, and which will continue to accrue.

Enforcement of the judgment is stayed until the earlier of July 31, 2014 or until the resolution of Birch Lake's counterclaim, which counterclaim was described in the new release dated May 6, 2013. Birch Lake will continue to seek damages against Bernum pursuant to its counterclaim.
