Aberdeen-based industrial service provider, BIS Salamis, has invested more than £1 million in its specialist offshore sand management tool portfolio in recent months.

This expansion of its product range includes the addition of a vacuum recovery unit, which uses high velocity air technology to remove unwanted solid materials formed during the oil production process.

The addition of the stand alone, diesel unit will enable BIS Salamis to offer clients a full range of sand management services from traditional intrusive desanding, using pumps or vacuum recovery, to temporary online solids removal and permanent installations.

The company, which provides a range of multi-disciplined support and maintenance solutions to the oil and gas industry, also forged a partnership with production equipment specialists NOV Merpro last year to deliver an advanced solids removal and cleaning system entitled ‘RESTORE’.

Jack Davidson, BIS Salamis Environmental Manager, believes the investment in new technologies has come at an important time for the company itself and for the industry as a whole.

He said: “The management of solid materials offshore is a key issue within the industry as fields mature and equipment ages. We felt that now was the ideal time to expand our product and service range to ensure we are able to meet all aspects of our clients’ varied requirements.

“By investing in new sand management tools in the way that we have, we have created a one-stop-shop for our clients, whilst helping them to significantly reduce their operating costs and improve their system efficiencies.”
