The well, which was spud on November 15th, has been drilled to the intermediate casing point. Encouraging gas shows were recorded in the 1,163 – 1,241 meter interval indicating hydrocarbons in the Kiliwani structure.

The main target interval is at approximately 2,340 meters in Lower Cretaceous sands.

Ndovu Resources (Aminex) is the operator with a 39% stake. Other partners in the well are RAK Gas with 25%; Key Petroleum with 20%, East African Exploration with 10% and Bounty Oil & Gas with 6%.
