CeMAT ASIA and PTC ASIA closed their gates on Thursday, 30 October 2008, following four successful trade show days. During the event some 1,700 exhibitors presented the latest developments in intralogistics as well as power transmission and control technology on a display area of over 80,000 square metres. Around 45,000 trade visitors took advantage of the opportunity to find out about innovative technologies and trends. Indeed, visitor numbers were up by more than ten percent compared with last year. Both CeMAT ASIA and PTC ASIA confirmed their status as the leading trade fairs in their sector in Asia.
The organizers, Deutsche Messe and Hannover Fairs China, were very satisfied with the trade show results. “The increased number of visitors is worthy of mention, and the discernible increase in visitor quality in particular is also very impressive. There were many extremely well-attended specialist conferences, symposia and talks, as well as presentations by our exhibitors, and they all made a major contribution to increasing the quality of the shows and their practical value as far as the visitors were concerned,” reported Dr. Andreas Gruchow, Member of the Board of Deutsche Messe Hannover.
Aimed at specialized target groups, the 22 high-calibre conferences during PTC ASIA and CeMAT ASIA were attended by a total of around 2,800 participants. One key event was the inaugural “International Conference on ICT Solutions and Products for Materials Handling and Logistics”, which took place on 28 and 29 October. Here, top speakers from around the world talked with an audience of approximately 300 about intelligent IT solutions for logistics in terms of their potential, opportunities and trends.
A further highlight was the “Automated Guided Vehicles Pavilion”, a special display focussing on driverless transport systems. This joint display was organized by Deutsche Messe Hannover in collaboration with Prof. Lothar Schulze from Leibniz University Hannover, who is convinced that these technologies will be in great demand in China in the coming years.
The feedback from many exhibitors at the end of the event was extremely positive. For instance, Dr. Frank Heislitz, CEO of NOK-Freudenberg Group in China, remarked: “We have been exhibiting at PTC ASIA for more than 10 years now and have seen how this show, together with CeMAT ASIA, has continued to evolve. We use PTC ASIA to consolidate relations with our customers and also to meet potential new customers. We are very satisfied and are already planning to return again next year.”
The KITO Group from Japan is also an established exhibitor – at CeMAT ASIA – and remains committed to the show. “CeMAT ASIA is the most important intralogistics show in China. For us the event is an ideal marketing instrument for strengthening our brand throughout Asia. CeMAT ASIA has been highly productive and extremely effective once again this year,” commented Goto Ichiro, President of the KITO Group.
