Italy offshore

Mediterranean Oil & Gas has announced the official approval for its environmental impact study of the Guendalina offshore gas field project offshore Italy in the northern Adriatic, where oil company Eni is operator.

Eni is clear to start engineering work in September 2009. Two development wells are planned in the second half of 2010 after a production platform is installed. First flows are planned by the end of 2010, with 20 million cubic feet per day.

The Guendalina gas field has reserves of 22 billion cubic feet.

Sergio Morandi said his compan Mediterranean plans to triple its own gas production on Guendalina's output to 3 Bcf per year.
