Ferguson Provides Module for BP Schiehallion-Spotlight

Leading offshore accommodation provider Ferguson Modular has supplied additional office space for the FPSO ‘BP Schiehallion’ one of the largest vessels of this type built in recent years.

The contract, awarded by Aberdeen based service company Wood Group Engineering, worth a six-figure sum, has been completed within the agreed lead-time of 13 weeks.

The module, designed and manufactured in-house at the Group’s headquarters in Inverurie, was outside the ‘standard’ Ferguson Modular specification due to a requirement by the client to adhere to strict weight limits, whilst maximising space. However, Ferguson worked closely with Wood Group to minimise any unnecessary engineering and documentation, this allowed for the project to be fast tracked and delivered on time and within the agreed budget.

Mike McKay, Divisional Manager, Manufacturing said, “This project has been a perfect example of our capability to manufacture high quality workspace modules to meet our clients specifications, as well as the needs of the industry. Ferguson Modular is building on an already well established reputation for bringing projects home within the lead times and budgets agreed and this particular project is another high profile example.”

Further contract awards for Ferguson include the supply of a Telecommunications module for Sakhalin Energy’s Molipaq platform offshore of Sakhalin Island and the provision of 3 laboratory units for the Expro Groups Africa/Asia Division.

Mike McKay, added “We are delighted with these additional contract awards. Having previously supplied Sakhalin Energy with accommodation, workspace modules and an H60-rated Toilet unit for use on its Molipaq platform the company is continuing its successful push into foreign markets.”
