Texas-based Iraq contractor Fluor has won an engineering, procurement and construction job with an American utility to build a 580 megawatt gas-fired, combined-cycle power station in Virginia.

Though of disclosed value to Fluor, the contract is for a project said to cost $619 million if major equipment is included.

The U.S. state is projected to need 4,000 megawatts of extra capacity over the next decade.
