Calgary show

Some 21,000 visitors attended what will prove to be Canada’s largest oil and gas event in 2009, the GO-EXPO Gas & Oil Exposition, where 700 exhibiting companies showcased the latest technology and services.

The 100,000-squre-foot sprawl also saw keynote speeches on energy markets and renewable energy seminars as part of the Stampede Park venue’s popular Global Petroleum Conference.

Chinese, French, German, Korean and Swedish companies brought the level of international exhibitors to an all-time high.

Special pavillions for health & safety and environmental management complemented the presence of new alternative energy technologies. Outside the covered areas, real rigs were showcased along with Caterpillar and distributor Finning, the show’s biggest attraction.

The Global Petroleum Conference featured top executives from Kuwait, Mexico, the United States and Canada and was followed by over 60 technical presentations. Pemex E&P president Carlos Morales Gil; Kuwait Oil Co. dep. director Khaled Al-Khamees and a special presentation by the Kurdistan Regional Government’s special representative to the United States rounded out the conference.
