Oilfield tools giant Halliburton has opened an R&D centre for its trademark Swell Technology near Stavanger, a move aimed to capitalize on ever more complex well designs in high-pressure, high-temperature geology.
The 8,000-square-foot (740-square-metre) lab aims to “triple the company's capacity to design, test and qualify” new “swellable” products
The lab will help Halliburton keep pace, as operators demand “reliability” in solving “their particular zonal-isolation issues”.
"In this lab we are consolidating key personnel for optimum collaboration between product management, global technical support teams and research scientists," Scandinavia vice president Jorunn Saetre said in a statement.
Halliburton will offer clients “remote observation” and office space to evaluate and collaborate on the technology.
