Aberdeen-based QED International (QEDi) has been awarded a contract in Kazakhstan – worth more than £100m - that will lead to a near doubling of the company’s existing 450 strong project workforce.
The ‘Specialist Commissioning Services’ contract with Kazakhstan-based Caspian Technical Resources (CTR) is expected to last 3-5 years, and QEDi is now recruiting a further 300 experienced personnel, most of whom will work in the region.
QEDi specialises in major project resourcing, commissioning & operations support and technical assurance. Last year, the company doubled the size of its Aberdeen headquarters on North Esplanade West , and this latest contract award has already required a further expansion of office space to accommodate 40 more engineers.
Managing Director, Stuart McLeod says the award of this contract marks a significant development for QEDi. “Being so closely involved in one of the world’s largest oilfields is a major achievement for us. The experienced personnel required to fill the 300 new jobs will be recruited by our specialist major project resourcing team which has an excellent record in fulfilling the requirements of such international projects.”
In addition to its Aberdeen headquarters and the bases in Kazakhstan, QEDi also has offices in Azerbaijan, Nigeria the United Arab Emirates, the USA, Brazil and Australia.
