Offshore contruction outfit Subsea 7 has penned a $100 million contract with Norwegian oil company StatoilHydro that’ll see the supplier engineer, procure for, build and install a gas-injection pipeline and umbilical at the Troll B project.

Troll B Gas Injection in the North Sea will be developed with two separate subsea satellite wells 3.5 kilometres and 6.5 km south of the platform. Subsea 7 will secure the 12-inch, 6.5 km long pipeline but also install two of 200-tonne satellite structures using the heavy lift equipment of one of its new vessels.

Subsea 7 in Stavanger will in 2009 use its sprawling North Sea Spoolbase at Vigra on the north-west coast of Norway to build the Troll links. Pipelay operations also start next year.

The Troll gas field lies 70 km northwest of coastal city Bergen in water 340 metres deep
