Crondall Energy, the floating production and subsea engineering specialist, has been contracted to provide engineering support during the Early Production System (EPS) phase of Hurricane Energy’s Lancaster field, offshore, West of Shetland, UK.

Hurricane Energy has agreed to extend Crondall Energy’s current involvement with the project as client’s engineer, supporting the operator with the delivery of the Bluewater owned Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, the Aoku Mizu, which will be used during the EPS phase of the field’s development.

Crondall Energy will support the operator’s project team during the engineering and procurement phase of the FPSO in Europe, the vessel upgrades in Dubai and the installation and start-up of the Aoku Mizu at the Lancaster field.

Hurricane Energy received consent from UK authorities for the development and production of the Lancaster field in September this year.

Duncan Peace, Crondall Energy’s Managing Director, says, “This is an exciting, new development in a frontier area of the UK Continental shelf (UKCS) and we are delighted to continue our support of Hurricane Energy’s development of the field. Our selection as client’s engineer demonstrates the value that Crondall Energy can bring to FPSO projects, particularly in challenging environments.”

The field, which is estimated by an independent reserve consultant to hold combined 2P Reserves and 2C Resources of 523 million stock tank barrels of oil, is scheduled to produce first oil and the first half of 2019.

Neil Platt, Hurricane Energy’s COO, says, “Crondall Energy has been supporting us throughout the pre-project and front-end engineering phases, and their team has become an integral part of the Hurricane Energy EPS project delivery team. We are pleased to build on that relationship and have their continuing support throughout the project delivery and start-up phases.”

The Lancaster field is located in blocks 205/21a, 205/22a and 205/26b in water depths of around 155m. First oil is expected in the first half of 2019.

Hurricane Energy’s licences are all located on the Rona Ridge, West of Shetland. In addition to Lancaster, it made two significant discoveries on its acreage, at Halifax and Lincoln, during a 2016-2017 drilling campaign.
