dGB Earth Sciences makes changes to Executive Management

Kristofer Tingdahl - dGB Earth Sciences

dGB Earth Sciences, the leading provider of open source seismic interpretation software to the oil & gas industry, has announced that Kristofer Tingdahl has become the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Kristofer will take on the CEO role from dGB founder, Paul de Groot, who will remain as President of the company and focus on business development.

Kristofer’s appointment is just one of several executive announcements made at dGB which will also see Nanne Hemstra, previously Executive Vice President – India, become Executive Vice President – Americas based out of Houston and Jan Stellingwerff Beintema, previously Marketing Director, takes on Nanne’s role as Executive Vice President – Asia Pacific. Jan will be based in Mumbai.

“The last few years have seen significant growth for dGB – globally and in key regions, such as North America and Asia, where our OpendTect solutions are continuing to generate more high-value geological information from seismic than ever before”, said Paul de Groot, President of dGB Earth Sciences.

He continues: “Led by Kristofer, who will take control of day-to-day operations, I am confident that our reshuffled new executive team can continue to keep the momentum going and ensure that dGB remains at the forefront of improved seismic interpretation and reduced risk in oil & gas exploration.”

Kristofer Tingdahl joined dGB in 1998 and, following a dGB-sponsored PhD at Goteborg University, Sweden, has been one of dGB’s leaders in geoscientific software development over the past few years. From 2005 to 2011, Kristofer was based in Houston, first as senior OpendTect developer, where he developed the attribute calculation engine and 3D visualization that formed the basis of OpendTect , and later as Executive Vice President.

Nanne Hemstra is a senior geo-scientific software engineer who is one of the founders of OpendTect and has been involved in almost all OpendTect developments since he started working for dGB in 2001. Nanne studied geophysics at Utrecht University where he specialized in exploration geophysics. From 2007 to 2011, Nanne was Executive VP of dGB - India, which he helped build from scratch.

Jan Stellingwerff Beintema joined dGB as Marketing Director in 2006, with over 20 years of experience in various aspects of geology, geophysics and reservoir evaluation. Prior to joining dGB, he worked for Western Geco and Halliburton in the acquisition of geophysical borehole data and then, for 12 years, for CGG in France initially in interpretation and later in technical support and sales. Jan holds an Msc in geology from Polytech' Montpellier.

Paul de Groot is co-founder of dGB. Paul worked for ten years with Shell where he served in various technical and management positions, prior to working at the TNO Institute of Applied Geosciences. He co-founded dGB in 1995. Paul has authored many papers covering a wide range of geophysical topics and holds MSc and PhD degrees in geophysics from Delft University of Technology.
