DSV Projects

DSV Projects in Aberdeen has won its first major oil and gas contract after working closely with colleagues at DSV Norway to secure the business. The contract awarded by GE Oil and Gas involves the seafreight movement of cargo from the UK and Norway to Angola.

“We are delighted that our strategy to locate a specialist petrochemicals team in Aberdeen has proved so successful,” says Steve Bingham, Director Projects, DSV UK. “We faced very strong competition for the business but great teamwork with our colleagues in Norway made sure we could offer the best solution.”

Most of the 4,500 tonnes of cargo, including subsea trees and spares, originates in Aberdeen and will be sent breakbulk and in containers via the ports of Luanda, Lobito and Soyo to the GE Oil and Gas (Vetco Gray) Kizomba Satellites Project.

The project is currently underway and is due to be completed by the middle of 2011.

Mr Bingham says: “DSV currently runs quite a few contracts for the GE Group on a global basis but this is the first time that GE Oil and Gas has worked with the UK and Norwegian offices.”

GE is a provider of advanced technology equipment and services for all segments of the oil and gas industry, from drilling and production, liquefied natural gas (LNG), pipelines and storage to industrial power generation, refining and petrochemicals.
