Emerson Process Management has appointed a new regional manager for Brazil within its Roxar Software Solutions (RSS) division. Frode Sedberg, who brings eight years of reservoir engineering experience to Emerson, will be tasked with building on recent growth in the region and strengthening key relationships with operators. Frode will be based in Emerson’s Rio de Janeiro office.
The announcement is confirmation of Emerson’s growing presence in Brazil and its wide variety of software solutions ideal for Brazil’s offshore reservoirs. In May 2011, Emerson announced the latest version of its reservoir modeling solution, Roxar RMS 2011™, which comes with specific features to model beneath and around salt and other complex structures. With recent large-scale pre-salt deposits discovered in the Campos and Santos basins, offshore Brazil, Roxar RMS 2011 is expected to play a key role in the region in modeling complex geologies and developing robust and reliable production models.
“Today’s announcement is a real signal of our intent,” said Ordin Husa, managing director of Emerson’s Roxar Software Solutions. “It demonstrates our commitment to Brazil and our confidence of making significant market inroads. With Frode leading the way, we look forward to providing operators, such as Petrobras, with the latest reservoir management solutions which address the region’s complex geologies head-on and result in improved decision-making, more justifiable investments, and enhanced field performance.”
“There are few more innovative but, at the same time, challenging regions of the world than Brazil when it comes to characterizing, modeling and simulating reservoirs”, said Frode Sedberg. “I look forward to spearheading activities in Brazil and, through our wide breadth of solutions, delivering the vital information operators require for well planning and reservoir management.”
In addition to Roxar RMS, other reservoir management software solutions Emerson provides include its full reservoir simulation tool Roxar Tempest™ and its history matching and uncertainty estimation software Roxar ENABLE™.
Frode comes to Emerson after eight years at Odin Petroleum where he held a variety of global reservoir engineering roles, including supporting IOR in Sudan as part of a project with NORAD (The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation); and production optimization projects on Statoil’s North Sea Grane and ConocoPhillips’ Troll and Huldra fields. Frode has a Master of Science in petroleum technology from the University of Trondheim.
