Eromanga Hydrocarbons NL says that the PACA 2 appraisal well at Block 330 was spudded at 23:00 hours on 30 December (local time).
PACA 2 is the second well on the oil field at Block 330. The first well, PACA 1 (previously designated PTA-3), was successfully re-entered, re-completed and put on long-term test by the Gavea Joint Venture earlier this year. To date, the PACA 1 well has produced 5400 barrels of oil since flow testing commend on 1 October 2008. Eromanga has a 40% interest in Block 330.
The PACA 2 well is approximately 1 km to the NW of PACA 1, with the principal objective of appraising the Coqueiro Seco Formation (Morro do Chaves Mbr) carbonate reservoirs that are being flow tested in PACA 1.
This well will also investigate the up-dip potential of the underlying Penedo Formation as a secondary objective; these reservoir quality sands were present in PACA 1 with oil shows, but were not tested. Terminal Depth for the well is 530 meters with drilling and testing expected to be completed in February 2009.
