FES International, a global producer of fluid transfer solutions, has been accredited with the American Petroleum Institute (API) Spec Q1 certification.

API is a trade association which develops standards for the oil and gas manufacturing industry in the United States and its Spec Q1 is a specification for Quality Management System requirements.

The scope of the certification was for the design, manufacture and installation of Bend Stiffener Connectors for Load Transfer Devices and custom-built equipment for the oil and gas industry, and renewable energy sector.

FES had to follow a challenging API requirement route which included desk top surveys and various stages of extensive audits over a six-month period.

Managing Director of FES International, Rob Anderson, says, “We are always looking for ways to improve as a company whether that is through developing our technology or reviewing our management processes.”

Garry Hartridge QHSE Manager at FES who was a vital part of obtaining the certification says, “Being accredited with API’s industry-leading quality management standard means our current and prospective customers are assured that we operate at the highest of standard and that we will always be able to meet their requirements and needs.”

To achieve API Q1 organisations must be committed to a focused and systematic approach to management processes including being able to demonstrate a focus on customer requirements and management commitment among other things.
