ffA (Foster Findlay Associates Ltd) has signed a 6-year worldwide deployment agreement for its AVI software in Statoil. This agreement is associated with engineering expertise, software training and consultancy to support the deployment.
AVI (Advanced Volume Interpretation) is an advanced 3D seismic analysis application that is based on ffA's industry leading SVI Pro and SEA 3D Pro software. In addition to all the functionality available in SVI Pro, AVI also includes the suite of advanced 3D seismic analysis capabilities that ffA has developed in collaboration with the oil company through an ongoing and highly successful research and development program that is now entering its sixth year.
The agreement is aimed at ensuring that AVI is well integrated with other key applications in the oil company's software portfolio. In addition, it also provides a framework under which ffA training and consultancy services can be accessed by geophysicists and geologists globally, to obtain maximum benefit from AVI.
Steve Purves, ffA's Technical Director said,'This deployment further cements the excellent working relationship between ffA and Statoil. AVI is an application that has been born out of a very creative and successful collaboration. Seeing the difference that the fruits of our research and development is making in real operational situations is one of the most exciting aspects.
We are now broadening this relationship by deploying AVI globally and building best practice G&G workflows around that technology, It provides ffA with the opportunity to work with one of the world's leading oil companies to proliferate that expertise and react to the needs of an expanded user base quickly and effectively'
