On one of its projects in the Caribbean, FG International Holland BV, the Dutch Special Lifting company, recently applied a so called Hydro Shield.

At FG the focus is always on increasing uptime for the installations we work on. With the innovative Hydro Shield in place, planned work on the flare stack safely continued , while the flare was always ready for immediate use. No shutdown as such.

From the ground, water at 20 bar is pumped up rapidly, creating a water shield between the active flare and the high altitude FG technicians. This separates them from the flare’s heat radiation, giving them ample time to abseil away from the live flare.

Combined with FG’s ultra-light weight, but powerful Special Lifting tools economical, time saving solutions are provided by FG to refinery and offshore field operators whenever Inspection, Repair & Maintenance programs require so.
