Filtersafe is providing the filtration units for Severn Trent De Nora’s BALPURE® ballast water systems which are being installed in new oil tankers built in South Korea.

The Filtersafe filtration unit is a core part of fourteen, IMO Type-Approved and AMS-Certified, Severn Trent De Nora BALPURE Ballast Water systems which are being installed in new BP tankers by South Korean shipbuilder, STX Offshore & Shipbuilding.

Ten BALPURE BP 3,000 systems, each with a treatment capacity of 3,000m3/h, will be installed on 110,000-dwt Aframax tankers, and four BALPURE BP 4000 systems, each with a treatment capacity of 4,000m3/h, which will be installed on 160,000-dwt Suezmax tankers. The systems will be installed by 2015/2016.

In line with installation requirements, the filters are IECEx explosion proof and rated for Zone Zero. The filters are Lloyds Register (LR) certified, witnessed and stamped.
