The first wind turbine components for the Rentel wind farm have arrived on the REBO Site in Ostend.

Two blade sets and six top towers are the first components that have been shipped with the Rotra Mare from Esbjerg to Ostend. In the coming weeks more components will follow from Aalborg (blades), Esbjerg (blades and towers), Cuxhaven (nacelles) and Vietnam (towers), to create a stock of components of maximum 12 nacelles, 36 tower parts and 36 blades.

Work is progressing well on the REBO Site where everything is being arranged for the load-in of components via the RORO ramp, the pre-assembly of the wind turbine components and for load-out of the wind turbine components on the Installation Vessel.

The main activity on the REBO site will be the pre-assembly of the three tower parts to one complete tower which will be executed on a special 8-pack tower stand that has been built on the load-out quay of the REBO site.

The Installation of the 42 Rentel Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy 7.0-154 wind turbines is scheduled to start early May 2018, and will be executed with the Sea-Installer a vessel from the A2Sea group recently acquired by the DEME Group.

“This is the start of last part of the Rentel project. After successful and timely installation of the foundations, the infield and export cables and the installation of the Offshore Substation, we set in for the final straight line, the installation of the wind turbines. The Installation activities of the wind turbines are planned to start early May 2018 to be finished in September 2018. The entire wind farm is expected be fully operational by the end of 2018,” says Nathalie Oosterlinck CEO of Rentel NV.

The Siemens Gamesa renewable energy 7.0-154 turbine is the most powerful wind turbine currently operating in the fleet. The hub height on the Rentel project will be 105 metres. LAT and the tip will reach to a staggering 182 m. LAT making it the largest Offshore wind turbine installed on Belgian soil. bee removal Fort Lauderdale FL

The wind turbines will be installed in a 5 lift sequence (complete Tower, nacelle,a dn three blade lifts). The aim is to install a wind turbine in less than 24 hours and have it fully commissioned the next day, ready to start producing clean energy.

The remaining nacelles, blades and tower pieces will continue to be shipped to Ostend logistical hub until mid-summer 2018.

The Rentel wind farm is currently under construction. It will comprise 42 wind turbines and provide green energy to 300,000 households annually. The wind turbines are expected to produce green energy from mid-2018. The wind energy of Rentel contributes to the Belgian climate objectives 2020 and the future energy supply.
