The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted consent for the transfer of operatorship of Gjoa SEMI with appurtenant installations on the Gjoa field, from Statoil Petroleum AS to GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS.

The Gjoa field is an oil and gas field located in blocks 35/9 and 36/7, approx. 45 kilometers west of the mouth of the Sognefjord. The water depth in the area is between 360 and 380 meters.

The field is being developed with subsea templates connected to the semi-submersible production facility Gjoa SEMI (pictured above). The consent encompasses use of Gjoa SEMI with appurtenant installations on the Gjoa field.

Statoil has been the operator of the field for the development phase. In accordance with the previously approved plan, the operator responsibility in the production phase is transferred to GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS. In addition to GDF SUEZ and Statoil, A/S Norske Shell, Petoro AS and RWE DEA Norge AS are licensees in the production license.
