Global Pipe Components-3

Aberdeen firm Global Pipe Components will showcase a decade of international success at one of the world’s biggest energy conferences.

The company, which began with one employee, supplies a range of pipeline products to markets as far afield as West Africa, India and Kazakhstan.

Now founder Richard Meldrum and his team will be consolidating that success with new business opportunities and a continuing presence at Houston’s Offshore Technology Conference, May 3 to 6.

And he is predicting a promising second half of the year for the sector. Richard said: “I’m optimistic about the remainder of 2010. More money is being released for projects and we are aiming to capitalise on that as well as look for new products to expand the range we currently supply.

“OTC is a key event for us. This is our seventh year at the conference and it provides a great platform for successful Scottish firms like Global Pipe Components to highlight our expertise, meet potential clients and expand the product and customer base.”

Global Pipe Components specialises in the fastrack provision of competitively- priced stock including pipe, fittings, flanges, valves, hubs, clamps, studbolts and gaskets, supplying from ¼” to 60” diameter in all grades from carbon/low temp/high yield/stainless steels through to duplex, super duplex, 6% Moly, Cu-Ni and other exotics.

The company has built up a reputation for reliability, fast service and the ability to trawl the world to provide the vital equipment requested. While others quote seven-month delivery times, Global can produce the goods in just two weeks.

“When people are stuck, we will seek out what they need, modify it if necessary and deliver it fully tested,” explains Richard.

Delivering a consignment of 30” 600lb ball valves, stripped and modified, for a client in Egypt was achieved within 14 days when the customer had previously been told it would take 30 weeks.

“We thrive on a challenge,” said Richard. “That’s when we’re at our best – the bigger the challenge, the better.”

Global Pipe Components, which has tripled its office space and quadrupled warehouse space at its Mugiemoss Road premises, is exhibiting at booth 2363 in OTC’s Scottish Pavilion.
