Heilo drilling commences in Barents Sea

GDF Suez has commenced exploratory drilling on the Heilo prospect in Production License 530, in the Barents Sea. The Aker Barents semisub is drilling the well, and operations should take about 50 days.

GDF Suez operates PL 530 with a 30% interest. Partners on the license consist of North Energy (20%), Rocksource (20%), Front Exploration (20%) and Repsol (10%).

Drilling commenced on Sept. 16 at Production License 530, also known as Heilo field, in the Barents Sea offshore Norway, North Energy ASA reports.

North Energy is drilling the well with Aker Drilling semisubmersible Aker Barents. Drilling is expected to take about 50 days.

GDF Suez E & P Norway AS is the operator of the license with a 30% share, while North Energy ASA is a partner with 20% license share. Other partners are Rocksource ASA (20%), Front Exploration AS (20%) and Repsol Exploration Norway AS with 10%.
