International Petroleum Technology Conference and Exhibition (IPTC)

In cooperation with national oil companies (NOCs) from China, Malaysia and Qatar, the IPTC Board of Directors declares the future plans for the renowned International Petroleum Technology Conference and Exhibition (IPTC), in an attempt to help oil and gas professionals plan their participation in advance.

IPTC, which brings together the industry’s technology leaders, will now be held during the first week of December in the Middle East (primarily in Doha, Qatar) during odd years and during the first week of December in even years in the Asia Pacific region (rotating between Beijing, China, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). Plans have been set to hold IPTC from 5-7 December 2012 in Beijing, China, IPTC from 2-4 December 2013 in Doha, Qatar, IPTC 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and IPTC 2015 in Doha, Qatar.

IPTC, the Eastern Hemisphere’s largest professional society based oil and gas conference, is sponsored by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Supported by national oil companies (NOCs), international oil companies (IOCs), and service companies, IPTC focuses on the dissemination of new and current technology, best practices and multi-disciplinary activities.

Mahmoud M. Abdulbaqi, IPTC Board Chairman, said: “IPTC is one of the most comprehensive events of its kind; it includes features that are relevant to every aspect in the oil and gas industry including technical sessions, the prestigious IPTC “Excellence in Project Integration” Award, educational field trips, a worldwide exhibition, young professionals’ workshops, a social programme for delegates’ partners and much more. Oil and gas professionals worldwide sought to attend this landmark event and we are pleased to bring certainty to its future scheduling in convenient and attractive locations”.

The success of IPTC is based on the knowledge, capabilities and strengths of the participating industry leaders and the sponsoring societies’ global membership, along with the spectrum of multi-disciplinary technical knowledge shared during the event.

During IPTC, regional oil ministers, industry leaders and global government representatives will convene to discuss and share their views on timely industry topics and trends, exchange expertise and experience, present state-of-the-art technology and innovation, and stimulate further technical research.

The inaugural conference in 2005, hosted 2,800 delegates and visitors representing 49 countries from Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and North America. This rose to 3,700 participants from 80 countries for the 2007 event held in Dubai, U.A.E. The third edition in 2008, the first to be held in Asia Pacific, attracted over 7,500 attendees from 57 countries, while the fourth edition in 2009, held in Doha attracted over 3,300 participants from 61 countries.
