JAG flocomponents has established its third major valve distribution facility, located in Malta, a major maritime transshipment logistic centre in the Mediterranean region. This facility will serve valve customers in the oil and gas sectors in Europe, Central Asia and Africa. Salvo Grima (Freeport Operations) Ltd. is the Maltese logistics partner for this operation. The Salvo Grima Group, founded in the mid-nineteenth century as a ship supplies company, is one of the longest-established organizations in the Maltese Islands, with maritime, commercial and international ties.
Denis Taschuk, President of JAG flocomponents states that, “JAG is excited about setting up this operation in Malta because it is strategically located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea, near major shipping lanes. Malta is approximately 90 kilometers from Italy and 300 kilometers from North Africa. With excellent port facilities, solid infrastructure, an educated work force, a favourable tax regime and EU membership, Malta represents a location that is ideal for servicing our customers in Europe and North Africa”.
As a member of the European Union, frequent ro/ro (roll-on/roll-off vessel) and ferry boat services connect Malta to Sicily and Italy for trucking services to the continent. Malta Freeport is an international transshipment hub, linked by regular liner services to practically all parts of the globe. An established feeder network connects Malta Freeport to 60 ports in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea and there are daily flights to major European cities with connecting hubs to the rest of the globe.

As a Maltese expat I'm delighted to see perhaps the first Canadian business to establish a base in Malta. Your wise decision will be amply rewarded. You'll find the locals you may employ to be very loyal, productive, and proficient in the global business English language. Any of your Canadian staff you may transfer to Malta will for sure thank you for what Malta offers, socialwise and climate wise. I hope your Malta choice will also be a catalyst for more Canadians to discover Malta. If I'm not mistaken, Malta is to embark on some offshore O&G drilling soon. I'm sure Alberta know-how would be helpful as well.
Congratulations, and I wish you all a very long beneficial relation with Malta.
Regards, Anthony Miggiani, Toronto.
