KPO statement regarding single fatality incident at Karachaganak field

Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V.

KPO deeply regrets to inform that at approximately 17:30 on the 19th of December 2009 a KPO Contractor Dmitriy Bobukh, aged 27, who was working for Flagman Company died from injuries sustained during a preparation for hydraulic test of a methanol injection line.

KPO has immediately mobilised a full Incident Response Organisation together with local Emergency Services. KPO has commenced a detailed investigation of the incident. KPO is working in close association with the Regulatory Authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

No other personnel were injured and there were no environmental damages.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of the deceased employee. KPO is assuring that the Employer is providing all possible support to his family.

KPO will continue to emphasize the critical importance of safety in all aspects of its operations and ask all employees and contractors to be continue to act in a safe and prudent manner.
