A contract worth some NOK 240 million for mechanical fabrication and installation at the Kårstø processing plant has been awarded to Fabricom A.S by StatoilHydro on behalf of operator Gassco.
Forming part of the Kårstø expansion project (KEP 2010), this job relates to upgrading of the processing facilities and utilities.
The contract primarily covers fabrication and installation of pre-assembly units and pipe-racks, mechanical work, piping tie-ins and installation at Kårtø and will involve approximately 60 people during fabrication and 180 people at the most during installation.
The contract takes effect immediately, with start up of the pre-fabrication in January 2009. The installation work at Kårstø will commence during the spring 2009. The main work due to be completed during 2010. The contract includes an option for demolition work after 2010.
KEP 2010, estimated to 6.5BNOK, is a collective term for a set of projects which aim to make the Kårstø complex robust for secure and efficient operation over many years.
Its main elements include an upgrading of instrument systems and utilities for the Statpipe/Sleipner condensate parts of the plant.
Gassco is operator for the Kårstø plant, with StatoilHydro as its technical service provider. The facilities are owned by the Gassled joint venture.
