Lankhorst Mouldings Offshore Division has been awarded a contract by Saipem do Brasil for the supply of TriVIV Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) suppression strakes for the Petrobras P-55 Risers project.
The contract encompasses the production and delivery of VIV strakes for four types of steel catenary risers: production, water injection, oil export and gas export, that will connect the flowlines with the semisubmersible platform P-55. Installation is planned to take place during the second half of 2012 in the Roncador field, Campos Basin, about 120 kilometres off the coast of the Rio de Janeiro State in Brazil.
One of the major advantages of the TriVIV system is the high speed of installation due to a low weight per piece and efficient design, in combination with a low overall transport volume. The VIV suppression strake has been successful deployed by many operators and installation contractors in Brazil and other deepwater areas such as the Gulf of Mexico, demonstrating Lankhorst Mouldings' successful track record in this area.
Lankhorst Mouldings’ Offshore division is a market leader in the supply of riser protection systems for both production and drilling risers, such as TriVIV, RiserTect, RiserShims as well as pipeline connections and protection systems such as PiggyLock and UraGUARD. Recently, Lankhorst Mouldings has entered the deepwater buoyancy modules market.
Mr. Martin Esselbrugge, Offshore Business Unit manager said: “Over the past years we have supplied protection and connection systems for many advanced projects. However, being able to work with Saipem do Brasil on the Petrobras P-55 Risers project is a major success for us, following recent orders for VIV strakes, buoyancy modules and other products for the Petrobras P-55, P-56 and P-62 projects. We regard this as further proof that Lankhorst Mouldings Offshore is the pre-eminent player in providing clever composite protection systems to the worldwide deep offshore oil and gas industry.”
The Royal Lankhorst Euronete group bv is a multinational company based in Sneek, the Netherlands, that provides plastic and composite products to many industrial markets. Saipem’s activities extend the vast range of engineering and construction work for the offshore and onshore oil and gas industry.
