West Qurna 2, Iraq

As a result of the tender process, LUKOIL Mid-East Ltd (operating company of LUKOIL for the project in Iraq) has signed a contract with Baker Hughes to drill 23 directional development wells in Mishrif formation on West Qurna-2 field.

The intensive development drilling will make it possible to start commercial production of oil in accordance with provisions of the development and production service contract. The drilling contract was concluded on a turn-key basis: the contractor will provide the full scope of services related to well drilling and stimulation as well as supply necessary equipment and materials.

Five cluster slider rigs will be used for drilling to minimize the time for moving the rigs within one well pad. The depth of certain wells will exceed 4,000 meters. Advanced technology and modern equipment will be used for drilling. Drilling will begin in the fourth quarter of this year; the projected scope of work will be completed within two years.
