Maxoil Solutions-3

Oil and gas consultancy, Maxoil Solutions (Maxoil), has announced a key appointment within its Houston office, as part of the company’s global expansion drive in the US during 2011.

Maxoil – which is headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland – has appointed Brad Nelson, 47, as Business Development Manager for the firm’s North & South America operations.

Brad brings a wealth of specialist experience to the company, which provides a holistic approach to process optimisation, combining process engineering and production chemistry disciplines with a wide range of additional specialist areas of expertise.

Having worked within the industry for more than 25 years, Brad – who joins Maxoil from subsea maintenance abandonment and decommission specialist, Proserv Offshore, where he held an Account Manager role – has extensive experience in the design, application and marketing of separation and produce water products and processes to the oil and gas sector.

Brad’s role at Maxoil will see him utilise his technical knowledge, as well as his sales skills, to drive the company’s business development function.

As well as consolidating the firm’s operations within the oil and gas sector, Brad will develop opportunities within untapped markets for the company, including within the areas of refining, petrochemicals and shale gas.

Maxoil’s Houston office opened in 2005, in response to an increase in demand for its services in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska, and to provide additional support to client’s operations in West Africa.

The company has now assembled its core team for the region, although it is currently looking to boost its Houston technical workforce through a combination of local recruitment and transfers from Maxoil’s headquarters in Aberdeen.

As part of Maxoil’s continuous recruitment drive, the company is keen to hear from process engineers and production chemistry consultants, of all levels, with strong backgrounds in operations.

John Clelland, a process engineer who has been with Maxoil for four years – operating out of its Aberdeen base – has recently taken up a three year secondment in the Houston office.

Working alongside Brad and John in the Houston office is respected produced water industry expert, Colin Tyrie. The 74-year-old has been involved on a consultancy basis with Maxoil since 2006 and will continue to assist in an advisory capacity as the company aims to grow its market share in the Americas.

Brad commented on his appointment: “I am delighted to be taking up this extremely exciting opportunity to expand Maxoil’s presence in the Americas by providing oil and gas operators with a consultancy firm which possesses a truly unique, operationally founded and highly specialised skill set.

“We’ve identified a need for a specialist firm with Maxoil’s capabilities here in the Americas and I look forward to playing my role in assisting the company in harnessing and capitalising on these opportunities to position Maxoil as a key player in the region.”

Managing Director of Maxoil Solutions Inc, Wally Georgie, added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Brad to Maxoil. We have no doubt that with his experience, expertise and vast knowledge of the region’s oil and gas sector, he will play a key role in the future success of the company.

“Brad’s appointment further reinforces our commitment to expanding Maxoil’s operations on a global scale. North and South America is a key focus as we look to grow our international presence and we look forward to strengthening the position of the company – and its range of specialist services – within this area.”
