Midmar Energy awarded new UK onshore licences

Midmar Energy says that Simon Rooksby has been appointed to the position of Exploration Director. Simon, who has over 30 years experience in the oil and gas industry, previously held the position of Senior Geoscientist and has been with Midmar since December 2007.

Simon has worked as a consultant geophysicist for numerous successful exploration, development and equity projects in both the UK and worldwide for both major and mid-sized oil companies. Having started his career as a seismologist in Oman in 1974, he then joined BNOC, which became Britoil, and then BP in exploration and production roles from 1979 until 1992. Since then, he has spent 15 years as a consultant geophysicist, working on successful projects for many of the major companies in the UKCS and internationally.

Simon’s extensive career experience includes the management of integrated teams for optimising development opportunities, risk assessment, and the legal, commercial and project planning aspects of field development. He has worked primarily in the North Sea, and also has experience in the Middle East, North Africa, USA, Australia and Kazakhstan.

Commenting on the appointment, Thomas Redman, managing Director of Midmar, said, “Simon has made an extremely valuable contribution to the understanding of and progression of our project portfolio since joining us. His experience will prove invaluable as we progress our projects in the UK and build towards our stated intention of expanding internationally.”
