Norwegian Snap TV has provided internet-based communication solutions to more than 20 ships and oil- and gas rigs so far in 2009.
An additional 35 ships have ordered systems for delivery this and next year.
SnapTV manufactures and delivers digital, IP-based multimedia systems, combining entertainment and information. The system is adjusted to HDTV, ensuring razor sharp broadcast of images. The system can also be connected to video surveillance.
“We have just started to scratch the surface of this market”, says CEO Pål Hoff. He notes that the company has doubled its revenue in 2008. Compared to 2007 the growth has been five-fold.
“We deliver through acknowledged system integrators, such as Ulstein Elektro, Schlumberger, French Italian Saipem og Baze Technology,” said Hoff.
Three Dolphin-rigs, three from Saipem and a number of vessels in the North Sea are equipped with SnapTV's digital TV solutions. The company also deliver onshore installations.
The system is cabled directly to the ships data network. There is no need for separate cabling. The system is very cost effective, and can be monitored and suported onshore.
