Tom Norland - Director and co-founder of PTC

Oilfield technology specialist PTC has established a new global testing and maintenance facility in Aberdeen and boosted its staff by almost 50%, as it responds to rising demand from the energy sector across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Far East.

PTC has opened a 6,400 square foot workshop and loading area at Wellheads, Dyce to enhance its international service, complementing its global business and research and development office in the city's West End.

The firm has added a further three specialists to its research and development team based at Great Western Road, Aberdeen, responsible for the design and testing of well barrier accredited artificial lift and chemical injection systems for the oil and gas industry.

PTC is targeting a turnover increase of more than 200% on the current year, following significant investment in the new premises and talent which increases its staff in Aberdeen to 11, allied to a further 62 based at its HQ in Stavanger Norway.

Director and co-founder of PTC, Tom Norland, says the staff and workshop expansion move further strengthens the Aberdeen base as a key strategic hub for the business' ongoing growth.

"In the past year we have succeeded in achieving the kind of growth we targeted when opening our North Sea and global operations base in Aberdeen, and that has prompted this increased investment," says Mr Norland.

"Winning deals to supply our technology to several global majors has made a test, maintenance and asset storage base in the city a vital component of our business.

"From Aberdeen we are now capable of not only of designing and specifying new technology in response to demand from the energy industry, but also testing, maintaining and delivering those items to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Far East.

"Continually rising activity means investing in new people is also vital, as we target further growth and strive to meet the challenges the industry sets by backing up our already strong pool of experts with new talent."
