Norwest Energy has applied to the Department of Mines and Petroleum of Western Australia (DMP) for approval to carry out hydraulic fracture stimulation operations at the Arrowsmith-2 well in the EP413 permit in the Northern Perth Basin.
The company clarified that it has been incorrectly reported in the media that Norwest Energy has received all necessary approvals to proceed with the reported hydraulic fracture stimulation program. Norwest has not yet received the required approvals to proceed with this program.
Norwest has provided all of the necessary data to the DMP to support this application, and is currently awaiting formal approval. Norwest will not proceed until all approvals are in place. The DMP has stringent requirements to conduct any drilling or other activities such as fraccing.
In the meantime, Norwest is continuing to work towards a start date of 1st September, as planned, with all services, equipment and consumables in place to facilitate the program commencement, immediately upon receipt of the final approval by the DMP.
