Oniqua launches the web-based version of their leading global Standards Dictionary software solution. Oniqua is the custodian of the world’s leading material and catalog standards Dictionaries used by the likes of BHP Billiton, Vale Mining, Amcor Fibre Packaging, Energy Australia amongst many other asset-intensive industry clients.
With innovative and fast keyword search functionality and supporting images, Oniqua Standards Dictionary (OSD) provides item names for over 40,000 materials together with associated codes, abbreviations and units of measure. Using this resource, materials cataloguers ensure that material master descriptions are consistently created to rigorous and consistent standards.
The OSD taxonomy owes its heritage to the Auslang standards (which Oniqua purchased in 2004) – a widely acclaimed implementation of NATO cataloging principles which has been refined over more than twenty years to meet the needs of asset-intensive industries.
OSD is widely used in engineering systems for associated parts lists, bills of materials and preventative maintenance plans, synchronization with purchasing and materials management functionality. This enables an organization to reduce plant failures resulting from incorrect parts ordered, reduce purchasing cost and supplier delivery errors, improve user efficiencies and ultimately benefit from Inventory savings through elimination of duplicates and variety reduction.
