Deep Offshore Technology International® (DOT)

For 30 years, the Deep Offshore Technology International® (DOT) conference to be held in New Orleans Oct. 11-13 has showcased pioneering technology that has shaped the future of the deep and ultra-deepwater industry. The event rotates every other year between the United States and international locations. Previously, DOT has been held internationally in Perth, Australia; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Mallorca, Spain; Stavenger, Norway; Monte Carlo, Monaco and Marseille, France.

Focused strictly on deepwater technology, the conference is an event where operators, equipment manufacturers, contractors and service-providers can introduce deepwater challenges, solutions and opportunities. International operators, including Total, Petrobras, ExxonMobil, Shell, BP and Statoil, have all served as conference hosts.

Hess Corporation will sponsor this year’s conference and provide keynote speaker, Stan Bond, Vice President of Development – Offshore Americas and West Africa. Bond has more than 30 years of experience focused on the Gulf of Mexico shelf and other deepwater projects. Additionally, he oversees the facilities development of Hess’ assets, specifically in Equatorial Guinea and the Gulf of Mexico.

“With new permits being awarded and activity heating back up in the Gulf of Mexico, we look to this year’s DOT International with enthusiasm,” said David Paganie, Conference Director and Chief Editor of Offshore magazine. “DOT is known for the quality of its conference program focused on global deepwater technology, and this year will be no exception.”

Notable technologies introduced at DOT through the years include the deepwater floating production concept introduced by Kvaerner Engineering (now Aker Kvaerner) in 1995 at DOT Rio De Janeiro; the deepwater Pathfinder class drill ship introduced by R&B Falcon Corp. (now Transocean Inc.) and Conoco Inc. (now Conoco Phillips) in 2000 at DOT New Orleans; the Atlantis artificial buoyant seabed introduced by Atlantis Deepwater Technology Holding AS in 2001 at DOT Rio De Janeiro; and the all-electric subsea production system developed by Cameron in 2005 at DOT Vitoria, Brazil.

DOT 2011 offers a unique opportunity for industry operators to attend at a reduced cost through the Operators Partner Program. The Program allows an unlimited number of delegates to attend at one flat rate.
