Penspen have been awarded a contract to provide integrity training services to multinational gas and oil company Sasol Gas.
Sasol Gas are committed to ensuring the integrity of their pipeline system through the implementation of best practice and have recently joined the Pipeline Defect Assessment Manual (PDAM) joint industry project alongside leading international pipeline operators such as Shell, Exxon, Total, BP, and Chevron. PDAM defines best practice in the assessment of pipeline defects, based on extensive literature reviews and analysis of test data and assessment methods.
Sasol recognise that tools such as PDAM are crucial but that well-trained personnel with a fundamental, holistic understanding of pipeline integrity are even more important to ensuring their continued success. Consequently they have appointed Penspen to provide in-depth training on PDAM including the background and application of the methods defined in the manual. In addition to the specifics of defect assessment, Penspen’s training will also cover the key issues of design, materials, inspection, repair and integrity management.
The bespoke training will be delivered by an expert team led by Penspen’s Head of Pipeline Integrity Roland Palmer-Jones.
Roland Palmer-Jones said,“By joining the Pipeline Defect Assessment Manual (PDAM) Project and requesting this comprehensive training, Sasol are demonstrating a real commitment to excellence in pipeline integrity management”.
