Petrobras’ average oil and natural gas production in Brazil, in April, topped out at 2,285,264 barrel equivalents per day (boed), 6% more than a year ago and slightly less (1.3%) than last month’s mark. The domestic field’s exclusive oil production, 1,975,540 barrels per day, was 7.2% higher than a year ago, but 16,000 barrels less (-0.8%) than in the previous month. The small difference compared to March 2009 was caused by scheduled shutdowns at platforms in the Campos Basin: P-12, in the Linguado field, P-27, in the Voador Field, and P-53, in Marlim Leste.

Natural gas production in the domestic fields was 49.242 million cubic meters per day, the same as a year ago and as in March 2009.

Considering the fields in Brazil and abroad, the Company’s total oil and natural gas production last April averaged 2,519,059 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day. This was 6% less than in April 2008 and 1% below the total volume extracted last March from the Petrobras’ fields in Brazil and abroad.

The volume of oil and natural gas coming from the nine countries where Petrobras has production assets, in barrels of oil equivalent, topped-out at 233,795 boed, 5% more than the previous month’s volume, and 4% above the April 2008 production. The international variation occurred, mainly, on account of increased production at the Akpo field, in Nigeria, which went on stream last February.

Natural gas production abroad was 16.90 million cubic meters per day, 3% more than a month earlier, but 2% lower than in April 2008. The positive result resulted from a slight increase, in April, in the demand for gas coming from Bolivia.
