Planet Gas advises that four wells have been successfully completed at the Oriva Federal project.
The Oriva Federal project is located adjacent to the Oriva Throne project, approximately 21 kilometres west of Gillette, Wyoming, and totals 359 net hectares (887 acres) in Sections 8, 9 and 10, Township 50 North, Range 74 West, Campbell County, U.S.A..
The Oriva Federal project contains nearly all productive coals in the Powder River Basin: Felix, Smith, and Anderson seams (depths 60 to 300 metres), Canyon, Cook and Wall seams (depths 300 to 500 metres). In addition to these primary coal bed targets, there are two deeper seams, Moyer and Danner at depths of approximately 750 metres.
The Oriva Federal project is permitted to develop 11 pad sites on the State mandated 32 hectare well spacing. Initially, each pad site is planned to produce CBM from the Anderson, Canyon and Wall seams.
The Oriva Federal project is operated by Emerald Operating Company and Rocky Mountain Exploration of Denver, Colorado ('EOCRMEI'). The Company entered into an agreement with EOCRMEI, the operators of the Company's Oriva Throne project, which will facilitate and expedite the development of the Oriva Federal project. Under the agreement, EOCRMEI will fund 100% of all drilling and well completion costs.
The program, which comprises 11 wells drilled in a staggered offset pattern, will total approximately 5,800 metres of drilling. EOCRMEI will develop the 11 pad sites with multiple completions on each well, thus reducing the number of wells to be drilled from 33 to 11. Four wells have now been completed and a fifth well has been spudded.
All wells are being fully cased on reaching the well’s total depth. Well completion, including downhole cleanup, seam perforations, formation enhancement and pump installation, will be conducted at the end of the program.
The Oriva Federal project is in a highly developed part of the Powder River Basin and dewatering of these wells is expected to be a relatively short process.
In addition to the intercepts from Anderson, Canyon and Wall seams which will be the initial productive seams, approximately 15 metres of total coal has been intersected in the Felix, Smith and Upper Cook coal seams. These coals will be left behind the well casing and remain 'behind pipe' for future completion and production.
