During the period 1-3 September 2010, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of logistics, materials handling, crane and lifting operations at Hammerfest LNG.

The main focus of the audit was Statoil’s management and leadership of the materials handling, technical condition, the status of user instructions and use of lifting equipment.

Purpose

The purpose of the task was to verify compliance with regulatory requirements within the mentioned areas.

Results

During the audit, nonconformities from the regulations were identified relating to the management system and execution and management of the maintenance of fixed lifting appliances.

Furthermore, two improvement items were identified tied to the execution of lifting operations, as well as deficient documentation for the lifting appliances.
