North East engineering powerhouse Red Marine has successfully delivered a Subsea Clamp Handling System to a US based provider of subsea riserless light well intervention services.

Working to a tight deadline, Red Marine – based in Hexham – delivered the fast-track project in just eight weeks from initial consultation through to commissioning of the clamp handling system.

Speaking about the project, Joe Orrell, Managing Director at Red Marine says, “We are extremely proud to have delivered such an efficient and effective system in the short time frame available.”

With a Working Load Limit of 15 tons, the system is used to facilitate the installation of a Red Marine supplied umbilical clamp during Well Intervention operations. Between operations, the handling system can also be used to provide a safe storage and maintenance location for the clamp.

Given the location of the client vessel, the equipment was manufactured by Louisiana based Bollinger Shipyards with a Red Marine engineer being onsite throughout this phase of the project to provide engineering support and input.

“This project adds to our extensive portfolio of industry leading clamp solutions and it again demonstrates how Red Marine can reduce programme duration, cost and risk by the rapid delivery of intelligent engineering solutions,” Orrell adds.

Having also supplied subsea clamping solutions to the likes of EON, Subsea 7 and FMC Technologies, Red Marine has now carved a global reputation in this challenging area of offshore technology.
