Rock Solid Images plc (RSI) says that its 90-well Barents Sea Rock Physics and Seismic Response Atlas prepared in support of the APA 2011 Barents Sea bidding round and the 22nd Licensing Round (2012), which was pre-launched only in April, has been warmly welcomed by the oil and gas exploration industry. RSI has already received firm orders for the Atlas generating revenues of almost $0.6 million. Further orders are anticipated over the coming months.
Stated Gareth Taylor, President of RSI:
'Our 2011 Barents Sea Rock Physics and Seismic Response Atlas provides an invaluable set of information allowing our clients to interpret available seismic, well log and CSEM data to assess the hydrocarbon potential of soon to be released acreage. It is gratifying to see this number of early stage participants, and we expect to sell additional copies of the report as interest in this area grows.'
About the Barents Sea Rock Physics and Seismic Response Atlas:
The Atlas which will be available to clients in July 2011 will investigate changes in the forward modeled seismic response of reservoir quality facies away from well control as a function of pore fluid saturation. The ultimate purpose of the Atlas will be to provide the interpreter with a catalogue of seismic signatures that will facilitate the stratigraphic correlation, interpretation and prediction of reservoir facies.
This study will add value to a client's Barents Sea well database by:
• Guaranteeing consistent and comprehensive well data conditioning for geophysical purposes for the entire well database;
• Relating reservoir fluid properties to seismic response though a comprehensive Rock Physic Diagnosis and Modeling process for subsequent Quantitative Seismic Characterization (inversion) work;
• Ultimately helping to assess the hydrocarbon potential of prospects identified in the basin.
• Representing a robust calibration dataset for the companion Barents Sea Super Tie 2D seismic survey offered by MultiClient Geophysical AS or other seismic surveys to which it may be tied.
