Aberdeen-based oil and gas logistics specialists RTH Lubbers, part of Lubbers Transport Group, has signed up for the UK Government’s trial of longer semi-trailers (HVST) as the company looks at ways to further reduce carbon emissions.

RTH Lubbers is one of the first firms in the UK to take up the scheme and will trial two 14.6m trailers as part of its daily transport operations on the company’s Aberdeen to Great Yarmouth overnight Trunker route, which services its core oil and gas market. Longer trailers mean more load space on each journey, resulting in each trip being more efficient and environmentally friendly.

RTH Lubbers managing director, Tony Tailford said: “As members of the transport and logistics industry we are acutely aware of the environmental impact our operations have. As such we view it as a responsibility to constantly improve this aspect of our business.

“Given that our core market is oil and gas the equipment we tend to transport is quite large therefore anything we can do to improve our offering environmentally as well as for our customers is crucial for our continued growth.”
