Mr. S V Rao has taken charge as Director Exploration, ONGC.

He has over three and a half decades of experience in Exploration and Exploitation of Oil and Gas fields covering the entire gamut of Field Exploration, Well site investigations, Geological & Geophysical assessment. Shri S V Rao was also the Head of two critical basins of ONGC namely Krishna-Godavari and Western Offshore besides Deep Water Operations. He also headed the Exploration & Development Directorate, Dehradun which is the Corporate Exploration Wing of ONGC.

During 2005-2009, he worked as Head of Exploration & Development Directorate, Dehradun which is a Corporate Exploration Wing of ONGC. The entire planning, monitoring of all exploratory activities in the country is centered at this office and provides a natural gateway to oversee all aspects of ONGC’s exploration. For two years between May, 2007 to May, 2009, was designated as ED-Chief of Offshore Exploration and Development and In-charge of Western Offshore Basin and Deep Water areas besides the assignment at Exploration & Development Directorate.

During 2009-2011, he worked as ED-Chief of Offshore Exploration and Development and In-charge of Western Offshore Basin and Deep Water areas.
